Shadow is also home to the former Clan Mongoose's totem animal. A sinuous predator, it earned the respect of Show's colonists and endeared itself to them by stalking and killing the planet's large and dangerous venom worms.
Mongooses in the more civilized areas of Shadow today live in an almost symbiotic relationship with humankind, roaming the outskirts of the cities and keeping them clear of venom worms, rats and other vermin.
