System: Conroe

Conroe has one small, arid, marginally habitable satellite whose surface hides valuable mining operations, which are the lifeblood of the planet.

The capital city of Conroe is Gilberhaven.

During the Fifth Sword of Light’s abortive attempt to seize the Davion world of Conroe in late 3025, the Pursuit Lance of Sorenson’s Sabres was ambushed as it entered the town of Thessia. A local resistance group known as Red Thunder possessed an ancient Devastator, and they used the fusion-powered variant of the Demolisher to terrorize the elite Combine BattleMech lance. Savaged by the heavy autocannon, the Kurita troops made a hasty withdrawal.

[3062] Formed in 3024, the Conroe Training Battalion was the first of the regional training units created on the orders of Hanse Davion. Its first graduates vindicated the concept, proving that competent pilots could be created without extensive (and expensive) schooling, albeit without much of the ancillary education (such as tactics and technical matters) normally evident in academy graduates.

The recruits for the Conroe Battalion come from worlds in the Bryceland PDZ, so there is a strong anti-Combine bias. Most in the current class are disappointed that, rather than immediately jumping the border to "punish the Drac scrum," they spend several weeks in a boot camp instilling basic discipline before being allowed near a 'mech.
