System: Huntress

Huntress is a world of extremes with massive polar icecaps, blistering deserts, and thick equatorial jungles. The planet has only two major continents, surrounded by the Sangram and Dhundh Seas. Jaguar prime, the larger of the two, houses the planet's entire human population, mainly centered around five major cities. The smaller continent of Abysmal is well named. The Hyata Desert covers a large extent of Abysmal, only broken by the jagged Lunar mountain range of volcanic peaks, a few of which are still active.

Huntress is the homeworld of Clan Smoke Jaguar. The capital of Huntress is Lootera, which is Hindi for predator. The city is situated on the eastern coast, sitting at a point where the Black Shikari river runs into the Dhundh Sea. Overlooking the city is Mount Szabo, home to a Reagan Defense System, and the planets main C3 complex. Carved into the face of the steep peak overlooking Lootera is a lunging jaguar, etched and lasered into a nearly 200 meter high rock face. The image is lit a night, and is visible just below the cloud line. The Jaguar's genetic repository is at the base of mount Szabo, a pyramid marked with an eternal flame.

Of the other four major cities, Pahn City and New Andery are agricultural centers and the site of chemical facilities that exploit the jungles for everything of value. Myer and Bagera are mining and processing centers.

[3060] In 3060, Task Force's Serpent and Bulldog completely destroyed the Smoke Jaguars, prior to the Great Refusal being fought on Strana Mechty. Lootera remains an open and neutral city under Star League administration, though all other military facilities on the planet have been left in ruins. Sir Paul Masters, of the Knights of the Inner Sphere, became the city's military governor on the 18th July 3060, shortly before the SLDF forces began the long journey back to the Inner Sphere.

After the recent SLDF assault on Huntress, all signs of the Clan Smoke Jaguar's warrior caste have been destroyed except for their proudest symbol, the mighty cat from which the decimated clan took its name. Prince Victor Steiner-Davion considered extinguishing a whole species to be barbaric, and so smoke jaguars still prowl through the jungles of Huntress.

Some members of the Inner Sphere garrison have developed superstitious feelings about entering the surrounding jungles of Lootera, after a few patrols were found slain; rumor has it that the spirits of fallen Smoke Jaguar warriors manifest themselves in the beasts, waiting to take revenge.
